Oral supplementation of specific collagen peptides has beneficial effects on human skin physiology: a double blind, placebo controlled study

This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial administered hydrolyzed collagen peptides (2.5–5g daily) to women aged 35–55 over 8 weeks and measured skin elasticity, hydration, and roughness. The study found that collagen peptide supplementation significantly improved skin elasticity and hydration compared to placebo, with effects persisting 4 weeks after supplementation ended. The authors concluded that oral hydrolyzed collagen peptides support skin elasticity and hydration through stimulation of dermal collagen synthesis.
