Vitamin K2 supplementation improves hip bone geometry and bone strength indices in postmenopausal women
Osteoporosis International, 2013
Each capsule delivers Vitamin K2 120mcg as menaquinone-7 (MK-7), derived from natto (fermented soybeans). Activates osteocalcin to direct calcium into bone matrix and Matrix Gla Protein (MGP) to inhibit calcium deposition in soft tissues including arterial walls. Supports bone and teeth health and cardiovascular wellness.
Vitamin K2 as MK-7 (menaquinone-7) in this formula is derived from natto, a traditional Japanese fermented food made from soybeans and the richest known dietary source of MK-7. Natto has been consumed in Japan for over a thousand years and is the food source from which MK-7 was first identified and characterized.
Vitamin K2 activates two key Vitamin K-dependent proteins. Osteocalcin is produced by bone cells and binds calcium into the bone matrix. Without adequate K2, osteocalcin remains in its inactive (uncarboxylated) form and cannot effectively incorporate calcium into bone. Matrix Gla Protein (MGP) inhibits calcium deposition in soft tissues including arterial walls, kidneys, and other organs. Without adequate K2, MGP remains inactive and cannot prevent arterial calcification. K2 ensures calcium goes to bone and teeth where it is beneficial, and stays out of arteries and soft tissues where it is harmful. MK-7 is the preferred K2 form for this purpose because its half-life of approximately 3 days allows it to remain active in peripheral tissues including bone and blood vessel walls, unlike MK-4 which has a half-life of hours.
Non-medicinal ingredients: Hypromellose (vegan capsule). No fillers, artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners, or preservatives. Gluten free, dairy free, soy free, non-GMO.
Adults: Take 1 capsule once per day with food, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner. Consistent daily use is recommended for bone and cardiovascular support benefits.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the bottle tightly sealed after each use. Keep out of reach of children.
Consult a healthcare practitioner before use if you are taking warfarin or other anticoagulants. Vitamin K2 directly affects blood clotting pathways and can alter the effectiveness of warfarin and similar medications, affecting INR values. Consult a healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking medications, or have a medical condition. Individuals with soy allergies should be aware that the MK-7 is derived from natto (fermented soybeans); soy protein is removed during extraction, but consult your healthcare provider if you have a severe soy allergy. Keep out of reach of children.
