Oral Glutathione Supplementation Increases Body Stores
Nutrition Research, 2015
Each softgel delivers 700mg of Atlantic cod liver oil from Gadus morhua, harvested from the cold waters of the North Atlantic. Naturally provides 1500mcg RAE (5000 IU) Vitamin A, 12.5mcg (500 IU) Vitamin D, 49mg EPA, and 56mg DHA per softgel.
Adults: Take 1 softgel daily with a meal containing dietary fat, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner. Fat-soluble vitamins A and D are best absorbed with dietary fat. Refrigerate after opening to preserve freshness. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
Not suitable for vegans or vegetarians. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. High doses of preformed vitamin A can be harmful during pregnancy. Consult a healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking blood-thinning medications, or taking additional vitamin A or D supplements.
Cod liver oil is extracted from the livers of Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua), not from the body tissue as with standard fish oil. The liver is where cod naturally concentrate and store vitamins A and D alongside omega-3 fatty acids. This makes cod liver oil unique among marine oils: it provides preformed vitamin A (retinol), vitamin D, EPA, and DHA in a single whole-food source. Standard fish oil provides EPA and DHA but contains no meaningful vitamin A or D.
The liver is the primary organ for fat-soluble vitamin storage in vertebrates. Atlantic cod accumulate vitamins A and D in their liver from their diet of smaller fish and marine organisms. The vitamins are present in their natural, preformed state: retinol (vitamin A) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), both directly bioavailable without requiring conversion.
Cod liver oil provides preformed vitamin A as retinol the directly bioavailable form. Plant-based beta-carotene must be converted to retinol by the body, a conversion that is inefficient and highly variable. Retinol from cod liver oil is used directly. Vitamin A supports vision, immune function, skin and mucosal barrier integrity, and cellular differentiation.
Few foods naturally contain meaningful vitamin D. Cod liver oil is one of the richest natural dietary sources, providing 12.5mcg (500 IU) per softgel. Vitamin D supports calcium absorption, bone mineralization, and immune function. Those at highest risk of suboptimal vitamin D status include individuals living in northern climates, older adults, and those with limited sun exposure.
Cod liver oil provides 49mg EPA and 56mg DHA per softgel in the natural triglyceride form. While the omega-3 content per softgel is lower than dedicated fish oil supplements, cod liver oil provides EPA and DHA alongside vitamins A and D in a single whole-food source.
Non-medicinal ingredients: Piscine gelatin (softgel shell), glycerin, purified water, d-alpha tocopherol (vitamin E, antioxidant). Non-GMO. Contains fish.

Refrigerate after opening. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not use if the seal is broken or missing. Keep out of reach of children.

Consult a healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking blood-thinning medications, or taking additional vitamin A or D supplements. Contains fish.
