Reduced L-Glutathione for Daily Antioxidant Support

A focused formula that provides an antioxidant to help fight free radicals. This L-glutathione supplement uses the reduced form, also known as GSH, in a convenient vegetable capsule.

Understanding the Reduced Form

Why GSH Matters

Glutathione exists in reduced and oxidized forms. GSH is the reduced form involved in antioxidant reactions. This formula identifies reduced L-glutathione as its medicinal ingredient, keeping the form clear when choosing a glutathione supplement.

Antioxidant Support with a Defined Purpose

The product’s recommended use is to provide an antioxidant that helps fight free radicals. Its purpose stays focused on antioxidant support, without extending that claim to detoxification, liver treatment or immune benefits.

Clinical Research

Randomized controlled trial of oral glutathione supplementation on body stores of glutathione.

European Journal of Nutrition, 2015

In a randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trial, 54 healthy, non smoking adults received 250 mg or 1,000 mg of oral glutathione daily for six months. Supplementation increased glutathione levels in several blood and cellular compartments. A decrease in the ratio of oxidized to reduced glutathione also suggested improved antioxidant status. Levels returned to baseline after a one month washout. The study did not test 500 mg daily.

Effects of oral glutathione supplementation on systemic oxidative stress biomarkers in human volunteers.

The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, 2011

This randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trial enrolled 40 healthy adults who received 500 mg of oral glutathione twice daily, totaling 1,000 mg per day, for four weeks. Researchers found no significant improvements in measured oxidative stress biomarkers or red blood cell glutathione status compared with placebo. This study provides important balance: short term supplementation did not produce measurable antioxidant benefits under these conditions.

Glutathione and its antiaging and antimelanogenic effects

Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology, 2017

In a randomized, double blind, placebo controlled study, healthy women received 250 mg daily of reduced glutathione, oxidized glutathione, or placebo for 12 weeks. Both glutathione groups showed trends toward lower melanin measurements, while the reduced glutathione group showed significant wrinkle reductions at some assessed sites. These findings concern skin measurements, not direct proof of systemic antioxidant benefits, and the dose was lower than 500 mg

Frequently Asked Questions

Is glutathione naturally produced by the body?

Yes. The body naturally produces glutathione in cells using amino acids from the diet. Levels can vary depending on age, nutrition, lifestyle, and overall health.

What are the benefits of glutathione?

Glutathione plays an important role in the body’s natural antioxidant defense system and helps protect cells from damage caused by reactive oxygen species and free radicals.

What does fermentation derived glutathione mean?

Fermentation derived glutathione is produced using a controlled fermentation process rather than being sourced directly from animal tissues, making it a commonly used source for modern glutathione supplements.

What is L-Glutathione used for?

Glutathione is commonly used to support antioxidant protection, cellular health, and overall wellness by helping protect cells against oxidative stress.

What is reduced glutathione?

Reduced glutathione, often written as GSH, is the active antioxidant form of glutathione that can participate directly in cellular antioxidant processes.

What is the difference between reduced and oxidized glutathione?

Reduced glutathione is the active form that can donate electrons during antioxidant reactions. After doing so, it can become oxidized glutathione, which the body can recycle back into the reduced form.
