Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this ginseng root called white ginseng?

White ginseng refers to the processing method, not the species. The fresh root is cleaned, peeled, and air dried without any heat treatment. This preserves the root's natural colour pale cream to light tan and its natural ginsenoside profile exactly as it exists in the harvested plant. No steaming, no heat transformation.

What makes Ontario grown Panax quinquefolius different from other ginseng varieties?

Ontario's growing conditions cold winters, warm summers, and well drained sandy loam soil in Norfolk County and the Simcoe area closely replicate the natural habitat of wild American ginseng in eastern North American forests.

What is whole dried white ginseng root traditionally used for?

Whole dried white ginseng root has been used in East Asian culinary and herbal traditions for centuries as a daily tonic ingredient. It is added to herbal teas, chicken soups, pork bone broths, and congee as a traditional botanical ingredient. Ontario grown Panax quinquefolius is one of the most widely consumed ginseng varieties in traditional East Asian households worldwide.
